All of us are called to mature in our work as evangelizers.
All of us are called to offer others an explicit witness
to the saving love of the Lord.

Pope Francis

Our Leadership Training Institute is unlike anything you’ve experienced in the Church before. This is not just “another conference”. It was designed from the ground up to help equip missionary disciples in the church. If you desire to share your Catholic faith with others, our leadership institute has a program for you!

Whether you are just starting out or you are an experienced priest, layperson, or religious we hope you will join us. You will learn how to effectively and fruitfully share your faith in the Lord Jesus through practical hands-on work at our institute. Our goal is to prepare you to go back to your own community with the tools you need to effectively evangelize and disciple those that God calls us to reach.

A New Adventure

St. Paul Street Evangelization has a worldwide impact with more than 300 chapters, a volunteer regional missionary program, and a full-time urban missionary program, all of which extend beyond the street into the life of the local community and parish. Tens of thousands of people are being evangelized, responding to the Gospel, becoming disciples, and finding faith, hope, and healing. In light of this growth, we are holding our second Leadership Training Institute to form leaders in Catholic evangelization who desire to serve in their local communities.

3 Courses of Study

There are three tracks available at the leadership institute. Choose the one that is right for you. If you have questions, email us.

Basic Evangelization Training: This is our flagship course and has been offered all over the country. It is for those who are interested in sharing their faith but have limited or no experience, those that want to earn basic certification, or those who just want to brush up on their skills. The Basic Evangelization Training course at the leadership institute takes place over one day and is taught by both experts and our new recruits. It’s always a fun time together. It will be held on September 23, 2017.

Advanced Evangelization Training: This workshop is for those with a basic knowledge of the Catholic faith, the work of evangelization, and trends in evangelization today. This workshop is ideal for both leaders – pastors, parish and diocesan staff, school staff, active Christian volunteers, SPSE team leaders and members – and both seminarians and university students. The workshop takes place over two days and is taught by experts in their fields of study. It will be both academic and practical. It will take place from September 21-22, 2017.

Regional Missionary Training: This is the ultimate opportunity to take a leadership position with St. Paul Street Evangelization. This track involves an application process which will close after we have accepted 24 applicants. Regional Missionary applicants attend the Advanced Evangelization Training, teach during the Basic Evangelization Training, and then attend an additional day of training to become a regional missionary. It will take place from September 21-24, 2017.

Regional Missionary Training

TRACK THREE: REGIONAL MISSIONARY TRAINING

  • Date:               September 21-24, 2017
  • Time:               9:00 AM Thursday until 3:00 PM Sunday.
  • Cost:                Free for accepted applicants. The institute, materials, and some meals are included. Housing and transportation are not provided.
  • Certification:   Intermediate Certification through the SPSE National Office, Regional Missionary Certification
  • Application:     streetevangelization.com/lti/
  • Application Deadline: September 1, 2017

St. Paul Street Evangelization is recruiting additional regional missionaries to join the two dozen currently working with our apostolate. Regional missionaries are respected in dioceses across the US as leaders in the New Evangelization who cooperate with the Church to further the mission of the Gospel. Regional Missionaries plant teams, support existing teams, offer speaking and workshop opportunities, and serve as advocates for our ministry.

As an applicant, you will spend four days with other Catholic leaders preparing for and practicing the work that you will take up as a regional missionary in our apostolate. Two days include lectures on advanced topics in evangelization. You will also spend time evangelizing on the street with staff from our national office, and we will teach you how to present our workshops as well as what is expected of you as a regional missionary. You will then spend one day with other applicants teaching a live course at the seminary under the evaluation of the staff of our national office.

While we hope that all of those who attend will be brought on as regional missionaries, acceptance into the institute is not a guarantee of acceptance as a regional missionary. Our goal is to thoroughly vet each person who applies for the institute; those who successfully complete the institute and have satisfactory evaluations may receive an offer to become a regional missionary.

Application Requirements

You should meet at least one of the requirements below.

  1. Regional coordinators, team leaders, and team members with at least 3 months of active experience with St. Paul Street Evangelization are eligible to apply.
  2. Those with at least 2 years of faith-formation or evangelization experience, part-time or full-time, paid or volunteer, with a Catholic parish, diocese, school, apostolate, or campus ministry may apply.
  3. Those with a minimum of a B.A. in theology, scripture, the New Evangelization, catechesis, or similar subject who can demonstrate strong speaking skills and a passion for evangelization are also eligible to apply.
  4. Graduates of the Catholic Biblical School and similar programs may apply.

By successfully completing the institute, each participant will be employed as an independent contractor with the title “Regional Missionary.” There is no salary or hourly wage, but regional missionaries will earn speaking fees, bonuses, and commission. The possibility of promotion from within the apostolate exists. We have hired some of our regional missionaries on as full-time employees.

Successful applicants will be permitted to run Basic Evangelization Training and Evangelical Apologetics workshops in their regions and provide formal certification for those courses. Using our promotional materials, they will call, email, and approach diocesan staff, priests, directors of religious education, campus ministers, and youth ministers about starting teams and offering workshops. Those with degrees or certificates in youth ministry from appropriate institutions will also be able to offer our Youth Encounter workshop.

The national office will provide all of the materials regional missionaries need to be successful. In addition, they will be authorized to act on behalf of the apostolate to offer shorter introductory and small break-out group talks provided by the national office.
